  • zoo wedding craziness

so my aunt and one of her sons are in town visiting from israel. yesterday they decided to go to the lincoln park zoo and they wanted me to join them. i also really wanted to go, but i had a meeting from 3-4. when i talked to the meeting organizer, he told me he was canceling it! so i took the afternoon off and met my family at the zoo =)

my 10-year-old cousin wanted to go on the paddle boats, so we worked our way around the zoo to the pond from the monkeys.

when we got there, my aunt said, "hey look someone's getting married!" i looked over by the paddle boat sign and saw a bride, and the bridal party.

then i walked down closer to the pond and i wanted to get a better look at her dress b/c it looked really cute. so i turn to get a better look at the dress, i see the bride's face, and then i freeze

i know her from high school.

i look around to see if i know anyone else.

yep. i know the groom, too.

i was good friends with both of them in high school in florida (they dated on and off), and haven't seen or talked to them since they graduated and went to college, 1 year before i did. we had some good times back in the day.... we would all be silly together, along w/another good friend who i have still kept in touch with since then. and we'd go to concerts together, fake fight during lunch, and underage drink when our parents went out of town. and we went to prom together. ashley actually asked me to go w/her b/c she and her now husband were at the time "off." of course by the time prom happened, they were back "on." i still ended up going. and we all had fun =)

so i go over and say hi. they have the same shocked reaction that i had. and they're getting married in mere minutes. so we talk very briefly. i find out that they live in logan square, a neighborhood very close to where i live (couple train stops). and i run into them here. on their wedding day, of all days. sometimes life is funny like that.

her mom took this awkward picture of me in my too tight dance pants that i usually wear under my flamenco skirt...
(that's the only thing i had in my car to change into that wouldn't be as unbearably hot to walk around in the heat as the pants i wore to the cold ac'ed office...)

  • i'm overstimulated

lately i've been feeling ridiculous... for many reasons

one example: the sun is rising and i'm still awake. this isn't uncommon

i have been having the most amazing experiences lately... inspiring, motivating, interesting, fun, exciting, new, etc. especially etc. i'm so overwhelmed i don't know what to do w/myself. and sleeping doesn't really fit in.

ever since the photo projects class i took at chicago art department, i feel like i am entering a new scene that i really like. yesterday i applied for their polaroid project in nyc... it sounds amazing! i really want to be involved!

so i'll just post some pics from looptopia and call it a night... i do have to drive the 'burbs in a few hours for mother's day... speaking of which, i am really impressed with shutterfly! i ordered a mug w/ghiradelli chocolate for my mom on wed night, and it got to her today!

this was the picture that i got printed on the mug (i cropped it a little):
it was taken in la pedrera right after we explored the roof and returned our audio guides =)

okay here are looptopia highlight pics. i'll post videos some time, too.

this guy spun the marble around in crazy ways (i have video of this, too)

check out the projection on the celing to the left... to the right, notice the guy staring straight up w/the flashlight. yeah he was controlling the visualizations w/the flashlight =)

hey what kind of videos are you trying to embed? youtube? what you have to do is in the editor, click on the edit html button, and then paste the code that youtube or other sites give you into there.
